For many years white wine consumption was dominated by the ubiquitous Chardonnay. The “ABC” (“anything but chardonnay”) crowd were in the minority. The last 12 months have seen Sauvignon Blanc overtake Chardonnay in popularity. Sauvignon Blanc is a white variety which thrives in cooler climate growing regions (Tasmania, Great Southern region of WA, Adelaide Hills in Oz, and Marlbourough & Nelson in NZ come to mind). Its refreshing crisp acidity is a perfect accompaniment to seafood dishes or lighter meals. Like anything popular, there are great Sauvy Blancs and some pretty ordinary ones. We prefer keep good ones at Fubah.
A great value for money one featured this month at Fubah is ~ Santa Rita 120 Sauvignon Blanc from Chile’s Central Valley. Enjoy a glass or two! |
